ABOUT US
FTD Building Contractors Ltd was established in 2020 by Freddi Dewhurst but his family have been in the business for over 70 years. Grandad Thomas Wilfred Thompson who armed with no more than a bag of tools, a 24ft cabin and the sheer determination to succeed, built the famous Thompson Builders Merchants based in Preston.

Beginning in the 1950s and continuing his joinery work by 1963 Thomas had saved enough money to buy Hill Top Farm in Barton and following his success in selling materials in 1963 was able to buy the yard at Stocks Road, Ashton.

By the mid-1980s the business saw such growth that Thomas brought in his daughter Georgina to help run the business. It grew from strength to strength and it is was one of the first most successful builders merchants in the area. Sadly the firm’s founder, Thomas died in May 2000 but his strong family values were passed on. He left his company to his daughter Georgina and expressed the hope that his son-in-law Graham would join the firm and support Georgina in running the business. That wish was fulfilled, Georgina and Graham both worked in the firm.

In 2017 at just 19 years old Freddi had completed his Joinery apprenticeship and went on to do his HNC in Construction. In July 2019 he went out on his own and with the same determination to succeed began on the path to building his own successful business. He now has a successful team of fully qualified joiners and undertakes all aspects of joinery work and project management.

OUR APPROACH
Freddi is quickly following in his grandads footsteps and has a reputation for carrying out and completing projects on time and to a high quality. The company is focused on delivering a professional service based upon quality workmanship, attention to detail and value for money.

We have excellent relationships with our Clients, Consultants and sub-contractors and we have continued to have repeat business but always welcome the opportunity to being invited to tender for construction works and we are very interested in growing as a business.
HEALTH & SAFETY
Safety is a priority at FTD. We take keeping ourselves and others safe very seriously. Our staff are provided with regular training and contribute to our Health & Safety policies. We are fully CHAS accredited and have our own First Aid officers.
